1.Question Complete the sentences.
Answer.(a)  Hunting-gathers chose to live in caves and rock shelters, because they gave shelter from rain, heat and wind.

2.Question. Look at the present-Day Political map of the subcontinent on page 136 of the textbook. Find out the states where Bhimbetka, Hunsgi and Kurnool are located. Would Tuushar's train have passed near any of these sites?
Answer.     Bhimbetka.       Madhy Pardesh.
                 Hunsgi.             Karnataka.
                 Kurnool.          Tamil Nadu.
Yes,  Tushar's train have passed near of these sites.

3.Question. why did the hunter-gathers travel from place to place. In what ways are these similar  to / different from the reasons  for which we travel today?
Answer. The hunter-gathers traveled from place to place to hunt animals and collect fruits, berries and leaves of the plant.  they followed the seasonal migration of animals. Whenever fruits were less. They went to a new place.
 we travel for different reasons like going of business trips. excursions. visit to religious places etc. We also go of buy goods of everyday use.

4.Question. What tools would use today for cutting fruit? What would they be made of?
Answer. To cut fruits we use knives, made of steel or we use electric knives.

5.Question. List the ways in which hunter-gathers used fire. (See page 16 of textbook) Would you use fire for any  of these purposes today?
Answer. Hunter-gathers may have used fire  for cooking food, for lighting in the interior of the caves and it gave security, because animals were afraid of fire.
Yes, we use fire for cooking food today.

6.Question. Make two columns in your notebook. In this left hand column, list the food hunter-gathers ate .(See page 11 of the textbook) In the right hand column list some of the foods you eat. Do you notice any similarities\ differences?
Answer.
Hunter-gathersFood which we eat
They ate meat of wild animals, caught fish and birds, gathered fruits, roots, nut seed, leaves and shalks and egg. Most probably they ate raw meat.Food consists of several cereals, pluses, fruits, and vegetable. It also contains meat, milk and milk products. Some of the food like vegetables can both be cooked or eaten raw.


7.Question. If You had natural pebble like ones shown on page 13, what would you use it for?
Answer. The natural  pebbles can ber used to play games  like (girls play the game gittas). The boys also play games (e.g a group of boys keep dropping pebbles at different places and another group of boys try  to find. This is specially played in SCOUT games).
The natral pebbles can be used to decorate the flower pots and flower beds.

8. Question : List two tasks that are performed by both men and women at present. List another two that are performed only by women, two that are performed by men only. Compare your list with that of any two of your classmates. Do you notice any similarities/differences in your list. ?

Answer :
(a) Both men and women work in office as clerks and managers.
(b) Both men and women work in the police department.
(c) They work as pilots, doctors, engineers.
(d) They both work as newsreader on television & radio and anchors for various other programmes.
Task done by the men mostly :
(a) Mainly men row the boat and work as captain of ship.
(b) Under water divers, who explore the sunk ships.

Task done by the women mostly:
(a) Nursing
(b) Raising and feeding the kids.
